Demon Wars!
Shuten dÅji (meaning "little drunkard") was the king of Oni, and a local tyrant from Mt Oeyama before he was slain by Minamoto no Yorimitsu in Japanese mythology.
Shuten dÅjiĀ and his gang rampaged through Kyoto, capturing humans, drinking their blood and eating them. It wasn't until the legendary warriorĀ Minamoto no YorimitsuĀ assaultedĀ Shuten dÅji'sĀ palace, and with the help of some magical poison, were able to assault the oni band during a bout of heavy drinking. They were able to cut off the head, but even after the beheading, the head continued to bite atĀ Minamoto no Yorimitsu.
The head of Oni's are said toĀ be unholy, so itĀ had to be buried it outside their city limits,Ā atĀ a mountain pass called Oinosaka. The cup and bottle of poison that Minamoto no Yorimitsu used are said to be kept at Nariai-ji temple in Kyoto.
The Floor Design depicts the clash between the King of Oni and the two brave Samurai's, putting an end to their rampage in Kyoto and saving the civilians.Ā
