The Spirit of Incomplete depicts a Hatamoto meaning "guardian of the banner" which were the highest ranking Samurai in the Edo Period.
The Hatamoto were the most respected and revered Samurai's during their period as their sole purpose was to defend their flag. The text on the flag translates to "honour" as they would rather die than desert their position
